Platform limits used
- Google Search ad
Headlines 30 · Descriptions 90 · Display paths 15 (hard limits)- Meta feed ad
Primary text ~125 before “See more” · Headline ~40 · Description ~30- TikTok in-feed ad
Ad text 1–100 · Display name 20- LinkedIn single image
Intro ~150 before “…more” (max 3,000) · Headline ~70 (max 200)- Google search result
Title ~60 (≈600px) · Meta description ~155- How characters are counted
One visible character = 1 (emoji, Arabic letters with marks). Google Ads counts Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters as 2.
Limits checked against each platform’s help pages as of October 2026 (Google Ads Help: About responsive search ads; Meta Ads Guide: Facebook Feed and Instagram Feed image specs; TikTok Ads Manager Help: In-feed ads specifications; LinkedIn Marketing Solutions Help: Single image ads specifications; Google Search Central: title links and snippets (Google publishes no fixed limit)). Nothing you type leaves your browser.
What are the character limits for ads in 2026?
Hard limits mean the platform rejects longer text. Soft limits mean it hides the rest behind “See more”, so write for the visible part.
| Platform and field | Limit | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Google Search ad headline | 30 | Hard (3–15 per ad) |
| Google Search ad description | 90 | Hard (2–4 per ad) |
| Google display path (×2) | 15 each | Hard |
| Meta primary text | ~125 visible | Soft, then “See more” |
| Meta headline | ~40 | Soft |
| Meta link description | ~30 | Soft, some placements only |
| TikTok in-feed ad text | 1–100 | Hard |
| TikTok display name | 20 | Hard |
| LinkedIn introductory text | ~150 visible (3,000 max) | Soft |
| LinkedIn headline | ~70 visible (200 max) | Soft |
| Google title tag | ~60 (≈600px) | Soft, cut by width |
| Meta description (SEO) | ~155 | Soft, cut by width |
How are Arabic, emoji and special characters counted?
The checker counts what you see: one emoji, one letter or one Arabic letter with its vowel marks is one character.
- Google Ads counts each Chinese, Japanese or Korean character as 2, and so does the checker for Google formats. Arabic counts as 1.
- Arabic and English in one line is fine. Each field sets its text direction automatically, so Arabic shows right to left as it will in the ad.
Leave room for emoji
Some tools count an emoji as 2 because of how it is stored. If you are within a character or two of a hard limit with emoji in the line, trim a little.
How much of your ad do people actually see?
Most people never tap “See more”, so the opening has to carry the offer.
| Where | What people see | Write for it |
|---|---|---|
| Google Search ad | Your headlines and descriptions, mixed in any order | Make every line work on its own |
| Meta feed | The first line or two of primary text | Offer and reason to care before the cut-off |
| LinkedIn feed | The opening of the introductory text | A question or a specific number, not a brand introduction |
| TikTok | Short text over the video | Keep it brief and let the creative carry it |
| Google search results | A title and description Google often rewrites | A clear, specific title close to 60 characters |
What makes ad copy pass review and get clicks?
Staying within limits gets the ad accepted; these habits get it clicked. The checker’s tips are suggestions, not platform rules.
- One clear action. Book, shop, call, get a quote. A verb tells people what happens next.
- No shouting. Words in all capitals and “!!!” look like spam, and Google may disapprove them.
- Specifics over adjectives. “Open until 10pm” and “Free delivery in Dubai” beat “amazing service”.
- Match the landing page. If the ad promises a price or an offer, the page should show it straight away.
- Write Arabic copy natively. Translated English usually reads as translated. Brief an Arabic writer.
Our performance marketing team writes and tests ad copy in English and Arabic across Google, Meta and TikTok.
FAQ
Ad copy questions, answered

Between 3 and 15 headlines of up to 30 characters, and 2 to 4 descriptions of up to 90. There are also two display path fields of 15 characters each.
Google Search ads don’t allow emoji or decorative symbols, and headlines can’t use exclamation marks. The checker flags both as tips.
No. TikTok in-feed ad text can’t include clickable links, @ mentions or hashtags. Put the call to action in the video and the ad’s button instead.
Aim for about 50–60 characters for the title and 150–155 for the meta description. Google cuts by pixel width, so wide letters like W and M use up space faster.
No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored or used to train anything, and it is gone when you close the page.
